How-To: Lisa Frank Eyes

I couldn't think of a description for this makeup look since I did this with no specific look in mind. I decided to recreate my instagram profile pic, not exactly the a copy but close enough.

The colors remind me of my grade school days when Polly pocket, kisses na nanganganak  pag binalot sa cotton and of course, Lisa Frank. These things were essential in being accepted in the very demanding world of a grade school Kulasa student. hahaha. Cool ka pag naka Lisa Frank ka.  Aminin mo!

I never owned any Lisa Frank item (di ba mahal yun???) but I sure did like the super girly colors and cutesy animals back then. WHO DOESN'T LIKE UNICORNS???? (I will cut a bitch who doesn't. haha)

Not so sure if I feel the same way now though.

Napaka natural ng look na to. Perfect for everyday!!!

Read on to know how I did the eyeshadow for this look :)

How-to: Killer Kilay (WARNING: LONG POST)

I'M BAAAACK!!!!! Did ya miss me?

you can skip this rant of mine

Sorry for being such a lazy girl and not posting anything lately. Hay. A lot has happened and did you know that at one point I decided not to blog/do makeup for a moment because I doubted myself for the nth time? ANG DRAMA LANG DI BA??? Mga self-confidence issues ko nga naman.

Blame the hormonal imbalance due to my PMS but I find myself getting all emotional at the smallest things... like say... Lord of the Rings (I MEAN, WHO CRIES WATCHING THIS??? AKO LANG!), oh and I finished a whole roll of chocolate cake that I ended up regretting and feeling fatter. Then I would tell myself "TOMORROW I WILL/PLAN/PROMISE TO --insert lie here--" (exercise, do my report, go to the dentist, study, heck even wake up early!) BUT I just end up lying in bed/watching TV/eating/whining how much weight I gained/eating/whining to the boyfriend. I just feel so... "blah" lately. My brain seriously lacks mental stimulation. ARGH.

I'M SORRY.

Skull Makeup

Been pretty busy for the past few days hence the lack of blog posts. Sorry about that.

It's a bit too early for Halloween but I wanted to share with you guys some pics of the skull makeup I did last Friday on a whim. Post makeup-gig and nothing to do on a Friday night, I googled a pic of a skull for reference.

I've been wanting to do this for the longest time! (Yes, before Lady Gaga's video) Not bad for my first try eh?

Products used:
MUFE's white panstick, NYX jumbo pencil in Black bean, MAC's carbon and Dollface's 88 palette.

Reference:
Petrilude's (MY IDOL!!!) skull makeup tutorial on youtube.

It was pretty fun to do. Next time I might do the whole face. Nakakatamad since this is such a bitch to take off after. hahahaha.

How to: Smokey Eyes

Ahhh... the ultimate "clubbing makeup"... the smokey eye *bow* hahaha

A lot of girls are scared of doing this makeup look. Why? The thing is, there is a thin line between a nice looking smokey eye vs looking like Taylor Momsen (happy halloween?).
So please go easy on the black eyeshadow :))

This look is dedicated to all those in the medical field. To all you doctors, nurses, interns, pharmacists, medtechs, pts, med students etc. ETO ANG ULTIMATE PEG FOR A SURGICAL MASK LOOK. HAHAHAHA. (just make sure that your makeup is sterile. corny.)

ANYWAY!

Check out the complete look after the jump! (you know you want to)

again... there are several of versions in doing the "smokey eye" and I'd like to share how I do it. I think there is no "right" or "wrong" way. Just make sure you don't look like you're going to a Halloween party. (Unless it's Halloween) Okaaaay? go!

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I've been wanting to share this product review with you guys for quite some time now. I just didn't have the time since I've been pretty busy lately. Busy-busyhan.

I first heard of NYX's lip cremes a year ago after a friend (hi Ross!) raved about how nice the colors were, but I never gave much thought to it until a couple of months ago. So I decided to check them out for myself.

Before I buy a product online, I make sure to check its reviews and swatches. So I think I owe it to the lovely ladies who posted and shared their thoughts online for helping me choose this amazing little product! Now it's my turn to share my swatches and convince you to try them out for yourself. HAHA.

Check out the swatches after the jump! ;)

How to: Day Makeup

Apart from the back to school vibe, for the fresh grads it's job hunting season!
Bawal ang mga palamunin at batugan! (ouch. tinamaan ko sarili ko.)

So here's something we all can benefit from - how to put on day makeup that is suitable for school (when you need to look extra polished: thesis, revalida), job interview or pwede ring corporate makeup! LAHAT NA! hahahaha

Again, this how I do it. I'm not saying that you should follow it down to every letter but rather, go with what suits you best. Feel free to experiment and try on different colors and blending techniques. Go with what works for YOU ;)

Smaller vs. Bigger Eyes

Just one quick post!

Makeup is all about the art of illusion. Here's a quick tip for you guys on how to achieve smaller and/or bigger eyes (whatever you like).

SMALLER:
If you have super "deep set", "bulging" eyes, chances are, you'd want to lessen or balance it out.
  • The trick here is LINING your eyes all around with a dark colored pencil/liner/eyeshadow to "push it back".
  • Remember the rule of thumb that black makes everything sexier/slimmer - that also includes the eyes ;)
BIGGER:
This technique works best for chinita shaped eyes since this adds more width and rounds up the eye.
  • Use a white/nude eyeliner to line the INNER waterline. A nude colored liner is less harsh, more subtle and more wearable for everyday.
  • Line the outer portion of the eye (LOWER LASHLINE) with a brown/black eyeshadow/liner up until the middle portion. Do not line it all the way since it "closes" up the eyes and makes them smaller.
  • Don't go overboard with the white liner baka magmukha kang may hyperthyroidism niyan kasi more na more ang luwa ng mata! Yung sakto lang.
Ergo: White makes things bigger. Black smaller. Keri?

Now that's an optical illusion!
(get it? optical = eye.. illusion? HAHAHA. Grabe ang funny ko. haha tumawa kayo.)

SMALLER
BIGGER.

Ilusyonadang palaka.
Bongga di ba?

Back to School: Fresh in Five!

Hi ladies! To kick off my June entry, I'll be doing some "back to school" look(s) because:

 1) Feeling "young student" pa ko
2)Tamad ako mag makeup sa totoong buhay
3) My PharmD classmates KNOW na Haggardo versoza ang peg ko everyday
4) Kahit puyat sa pag aaral (OR sa pag cram) dapat fresh parin di baaaa???

Here's something for all of you lazy girls (like me!) out there. I usually do this on the way to school since I have mastered the art of putting on makeup in a moving vehicle (wag gayahin). This look takes me 5 mins tops (promise!)

Feel free to add/skip some steps to your liking. Btw I've used pretty affordable products for us purita-non-working class girls. HAHAHA

Pin-Up Girl Makeup Tutorial

Hello dear non-existent readers! (haha) I have decided to revive this blog of mine to share some tips and tutorials on makeup. Feelingera mode - ON!

Victory curls, Winged eye-liner, red RED lips - three main things you see in a pin-up themed makeup.

"A pin-up girl, also known as a pin-up model, is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popculture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display, e.g. meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. The term pin-up may also refer to drawings, paintings, and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos. The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however, the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s." - wikipedia (Napaka credible ng source ko.)

Apart from the posters actually being pinned up the wall the hair of pin up girls required massive amounts of hair pins to set the curls (look up "how to pin-curls" in youtube and you'll understand how much effort it took to curl the hair back in the day!).

My first tutorial would be the iconic Pin-Up look mainly because the eyeshadow routine is pretty simple and can be wearable for everyday with a few tweeks of course

Here's my interpretation of the look and if you want to learn how to achieve this read on ;)
